Motorcycle accidents are on the rise, and in a time when there are more vehicles on the road than ever, relying solely on old-fashioned safety methods is not enough. Newer motorcycle safety devices like intelligent security systems for motorcycles can help to mitigate this problem by providing riders with a way to avoid accidents that would otherwise be unavoidable.

New Technology for Motorcycles

With new technology like lane departure warnings, adaptive cruise control, and collision avoidance systems, motorcycle riders now have enhanced safety features to help them navigate the road.

These new technologies get designed to anticipate potential danger and provide alerts or even braking assistance if necessary. With the vast number of drivers distracted by smartphones and other electronics, improving motorcycle safety is a priority for riders and manufacturers alike.

Using smart technology, safer riding is on the cusp of cutting edge. These new improvements come in the form of motorcycle safety products that include the following:

1. High-Tech Helmets

High-Tech Helmets are the latest trend in motorcycle safety. All the best motorcycle helmets get equipped with rear-view cameras and sensors. The intent is to keep riders safe during their ride and to reduce the number of injuries on the road. Many new features in these helmets also help riders avoid crashes.

Taiwanese company Jarvis is on the cutting edge of helmet technology with the development of smart helmets. The X and X-AR models come with a front and rear camera, microphone, and built-in Bluetooth speakers.

Furthermore, the helmets feature a display unit that shows the rider’s speed, navigation, weather conditions, and more.

2. Wearable Airbags

Tech-Air is currently marketing wearable airbags. Wearable airbags prevent severe injuries to the back, shoulders, organs, and chest while being comfortable to wear. Like the conventional airbags you know of in cars, these inflate when certain riding criteria are met. Wearable airbag technology makes riding a motorcycle safer for riders of all skill levels. One notable change in safety is the incorporation of safety sensors that can activate an intelligent airbag when it senses an impending accident by looking for patterns of movement.

When the wearable airbag detects an accident, it inflates to absorb the impact of the collision, thus protecting you and those around you. The wearable airbag is lightweight and comfortable, so riders have extra protection while pushing their gear all day.

3. Anti-Lock Braking Systems

Anti-Lock Braking Systems (ABS) is a popular technology that allows motorcycles to stop rapidly and safely on wet, dry, or slippery surfaces.

Anti-lock braking systems considerably reduce crash risk and stopping distance by preventing the brakes from interlocking and sliding the tires. Because of this function, the rider is less likely to collide with any automobile or barrier they attempt to avoid.

An anti-lock braking system uses information from sensors installed on each wheel to prevent locking. To prevent the locking! The system modifies the braking force.

Anti-lock brakes potentially save lives. There is a 31% decrease in the likelihood of death in a motorbike crash when an ABS is incorporated.

4. Vehicle-To-Vehicle Communications

The first step in making roads safer is enabling vehicles and other automobiles to communicate effectively. This technology gets designed to prevent accidents by providing information about a vehicle’s speed, heading, and location.

Industry leaders in the automotive sector, including Honda and Tesla, are working on V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) control systems that will enable drivers to communicate with each while in motion.

If drivers can communicate about issues with their automobiles, road conditions, and route directions, V2V will minimize accidents triggered by human error by more than 81 %.

The sensor nodes in the system can monitor each vehicle’s velocity, location, and steadiness to provide timely indications of impending hazards.

5. Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (Aras) and Alert Systems

Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) and alert systems have existed for many years. Still, the technology has only recently had the push it needs to be recognized by organizations and riders.

ARAS systems get designed to provide alerts, such as speed reductions or lane changes from other vehicles before a rider gets forced to take action to avoid a crash. These systems give enough time to prevent an impact, reduce the severity of a collision or help riders remain upright after a hit instead of sliding out.

There are many different types of ARAS systems on the market, and each has its features and benefits, but they all have one thing in common; they keep riders safe by giving them an advanced warning before they need to react while in motion.

Advancing Technology is Saving Lives

In the last decade, motorcycle fatalities have increased while death rates in other vehicle categories have declined. This can get attributed to many factors like alcohol consumption and mobile phone usage, as well as the lack of proper motorcycle safety gear. Smart technology is a force for good in this area, from monitoring a bike’s speed to checking for hazards.

Several experts believe smart technology creates a new kind of safety by monitoring a bike’s performance, improving fuel economy, and reminding riders to stay safe.

The benefits of intelligent technology go beyond ensuring safety; riding a safer motorcycle will also improve riding skills and teach the fundamentals of motorcycle mechanics.

Smart technology has already considerably impacted riders who have purchased their motorcycles. These motorcycles contain diagnostic systems, safety monitors, GPS tracking, and emergency calling devices.
